Bud Davidge wrote "The Mummer's Song" as a tribute to a centuries-old custom in danger of disappearing. SInce its release in 1983, it has fostered a revival of mummering. The richly detailed illustrations in this picture-book adaptation are by the award-winning artist Ian Wallace. This tribute to mummering, a wonderful, fun-filled Christmas tradition long celebrated in rural Newfoundland, includes a CD containing a reading by the author, "The Mummer's Song" with musical accompaniment, and two other seasonal songs.
